What we buy
Rare Coins
Ancient to modern US and world coins, graded or raw.
Rare Currency
Silver certificates, federal reserve notes, obsolete banknotes.
Bullion
Gold, silver, platinum and palladium bars, coins and rounds.
Jewelry & Scrap
Broken chains, single earrings, silver flatware, holloware, placer gold.
Watches
Antique, vintage and contemporary timepieces.
Sports Memorabilia
Autographed jerseys through to baseball cards.
If you are not sure which category something belongs to, that is the normal starting point. A collection that arrived by inheritance usually contains several at once, and the sorting is part of the job.
How selling works
Walk in
No appointment. Bring the box as it is - please do not clean anything first.
We test it
X-ray fluorescence reads the metal type and the exact percentage in every piece.
We weigh it
On government certified scales, in front of you, against the spot price at that moment.
You decide
We explain how we got to the number. No fee, no obligation to sell.
The detail, if you want it
Why collectible and bullion are separated before any offer
This is the step that moves the number more than anything else, and it is why a mixed lot should never be sold by weight alone.
A silver dime from before 1965 has a metal value you can calculate in seconds. The same dime, if it is a 1916-D, belongs in a different market entirely and is worth a multiple of its silver. Weighed in with the rest, it would be paid out as scrap.
So the lot is read date by date and mint mark by mint mark before anything that might be collectible goes on the scale. What melt value is, and when it is the wrong number.
Appraisals: free when you sell, paid when you need a document
Complimentary appraisal. What happens when you walk in to sell. We assess what you have, tell you what we would pay and how we arrived at it, and you decide. No charge, no obligation.
Insurance appraisal. A written, itemised report prepared for a third party to rely on - an insurer, an executor, a probate court. A separate paid service, because it is a document carrying your name that someone else will act on. What a written appraisal has to contain.
Written test documentation. If what you need is a record of the metal composition rather than a valuation, that is priced per item on our assaying page, alongside specific gravity, ultrasonic and acid testing.
Identification and how you are paid
Arizona has a specific statute for dealers in crafted precious metal, and it is better known before you arrive than discovered at the counter.
For jewelry, silverware and scrap, A.R.S. § 44-1602 requires us to record your name, address, date of birth and signature against valid photo identification, to pay by check only, made out to the actual seller, and to hold the items unaltered for ten calendar days. Dealers also file weekly purchase lists with local law enforcement.
None of that is shop policy - it is the law in this state, and a dealer offering to skip any of it is telling you something about how they operate. Coins and bullion are excluded from that definition and handled differently. We will say which rule covers your items before you commit to anything. Why an Arizona shop asks for ID and pays by check.
Estates, probate and executors
We assist probate attorneys, estate lawyers and executors with the valuation or liquidation of items containing precious metals. Many estates find jewelry and silverware easier to liquidate than to divide between beneficiaries, though plenty of the valuations we do are for items the family intends to keep.
Turnaround depends on the number of items and the service needed, and is usually one to three days. The method does not change - XRF on each piece, weighed on certified scales, priced against the market at the time of the valuation.

Common questions about selling gold in Phoenix
Do you buy gold jewelry, or only coins?
Both. We buy gold and silver jewelry, broken and scrap pieces, silver flatware, watches, coins, bullion and paper currency at our Bell Rd shop.
Do I need an appointment to sell?
No. Walk in Monday to Friday 9:00 - 5:00 or Saturday 9:00 - 4:00. For a large estate, call 602-377-1944 first so the right person is on hand.
How do you work out what to pay for my gold?
We read the metal content with x-ray fluorescence, weigh every piece in front of you on government certified scales, and use the spot price at that moment. There is no fee and no obligation to sell.
Do you appraise inherited coin collections?
Yes, and the appraisal is free when you are selling. We sort collectible coins from bullion so you are paid properly for both. A written valuation for insurance or probate is a separate, paid service - tell us which one you need.
How will I be paid?
For jewelry, silverware and scrap metal, Arizona law requires payment by check made out to the named seller. Coins and bullion fall outside that part of the statute. We will tell you which applies before you agree to anything.
